The Economics Journal

Bringing economics and finance closer to common people

About Us

without comments

The Economics Journal is a non-profit news source based in Seattle, USA that focuses on giving a centrist view of the world around us. Most of the traditional news sources are politically biased in one way or the other – Wall Street Journal to the right, New York Times to the left and when politics become so entwined with news, it becomes hard for common people to get an unbiased view of economics and financial happenings. Moreover, a number of news sources and blogs on these topics are targeted more at the professional readers who know economics and financial theory well. You just have to tell them that ISM fell to 38 and they will fill up the rest of the dots. But, most of the investors don’t have such a background because we might be far away from the field – doing farming, coding or marketing.

My main goal is to write long length articles that ties economic education to the news you read. When we talk about GDP growth in Q3, we also want you to understand what GDP means, how it is calculated and how do you place the current development in the overall scheme of things. While we strive to keep the pros interested with the depth of our analysis, we will also strive to keep the common people in the know.

My mission is to bring economics and finance closer to common people, because we think helping the common people understand the concepts well can make markets more robust, efficient and liquid. It is the common people’s trillions of dollars, through 401k and other retirement investments, that gives the biggest liquidity to the markets. And it is the common people whole vote and select the governments that have the biggest influence on the markets. We strive to provide you an objective analysis and hope it will be of help to you. Feel free to comment, digg and share it to your friends. For general concerns and comments, contact us at EconomicsJournal [at] yahoo [dot] com.
